The digitisation of the working environment has also modernised the process of signing documents, creating an efficient solution that can significantly save time and material resources that were wasted in the past. In this article we will find out what an electronic holographic signature is and how you can sign your documents with it.
First of all, we must distinguish between 3 types of signatures: holographic signature, electronic holographic signature and qualified electronic signature.
Holographic signature
The holographic signature is the original handwritten signature that ensures the validity of the document and the information contained therein. However, due to the increasing need for automation in business, there was a desire to eliminate the numerous steps that would move the document from digital to physical and back again just to be signed.
Electronic holographic signature
This type of signature emerged as a solution to people's desire to speed up the work process. It is the translation of the holographic signature into the electronic environment, by scanning and applying it to the document in various ways. Due to the relatively easy process of obtaining an electronic holographic signature, it is not very secure in terms of the identity of the parties.
Electronic holographic signatures can be done in several ways, depending on the equipment you have at hand:
- Scanning the hand signature and inserting it into the document;
- On the computer, with a mouse, directly on the document;
- On your computer, phone or tablet with special digital pens, directly on the document;
- With an app that uploads your signature and inserts it into the document, as found on the Banqup platform.
Among the advantages of electronic holographic signature are its applicability on any kind of document, regardless of its nature, and the lack of external certification which is not required.
Qualified electronic signature
A qualified electronic signature is exclusively digital. It is regulated in Romania by Law 455/2001, and at EU level by Regulation (EU) No 910/2014, only if it is accompanied by a certificate issued by an authorised provider. It is unique for each document, has legal value equivalent to a holographic signature and is internationally recognised in all other EU Member States.
